I recorded the end of a rain storm with water running off of the house and multitudes and species of frogs in the background. I used my phone to record a mono track and then used audacity to simulate spatial stereo. It made the traffic in the distance sound like spirits moaning. I thought it was pretty cool. (-;.

A meaty glass impact with some cracks forming afterward. Perfect sound for when the glass object breaks, or is nearly broken by some heavy metal object. Made by hitting a porcelain plate with a metal spoon, then crushing up some aluminium foil and ice chunks in my hand. The sound files were then pitch shifted and merged in audacity.

This is a recording of buttsbury wash, which goes across a small road in essex, uk. At about 1:15 a car can be heard going through the water. The water is quite deep and the car stalled after it got to the other side, though managed to restart. The recording was made with a sennheiser m6/k6 attached to a zoom h5. Minimal editing with audacity.

The main sound is the sound of someone playing a thumb-piano. There's also a gong, and two clock chimes. All of these i added reverb to and sloooowed dooooown about -81 percent. I recorded the acoustic guitar with audacity, then added the fx with reaper. It is named 5pm because that was the time when i recorded it. In reaper i made 3 tracks of the same recording and added different fx to each one:track 1 contained reverb and flange with adjusted tempo. Track 2 contained a pitch delay doubler. Track 3 contained a resonant lowpass filter - low quality.

White noise fades in to climax with slight reverb at end. Atmospheric - an unsettling transition or sudden ending. Generated with audacity on a mac - 16-bit wav. I made this from scratch very quickly (after hours of searching for just the right sound!).

Yep, i'm reading alen stranges "electronic music: system, techniques and controls". Interesting from start. This is a patch made with lessons from chapter 4. Changed pitch on one osc and added some drums. Some editing in audacity compressor and limiter.

I was just messing around in audacity, like i usually do all the time. I made a corrupt audio file, and i found this extremely weird sound. I got rid of all the white noise, which made it sound even weirder, then i slowed it down and got this sound. You can use this however you want. This clip was made because i was looking for a strong thunderstorm sound effect for a school play. I wasn't able to find one that was strong enough for what i wanted, so this. Mp3 was made in audacity from three other audio files from freesound - they are #s 27247, 2521, and 87472. This information is also in the 'comment' metadata of the mp3 file. As far as i can tell, this is the "strongest" storm available on freesound as of early february 2010. (i could be wrong of course!). It's not rain but sounds like rain - fog and damp settling in the trees as a breeze blows. Recorded in the fields above my home in the fog and damp - so sounds amplified and 'hollow'. Recorded using a sennheiser mke300 'shotgun' mic. Cropped in audacity; and saved as aif file. Rustling leaves can also be made out. Feel free to hash it, mash it and trash it. Use it as you wish. No conditions.

Noise left after dithering and phase canceling a tone. A tone was created with audacity's tone generator. Another version of the tone was made by downsampling and dithering the original tone in ableton live. I then phase cancelled the two sounds by switching the polarity of one of the tones and blending them back together in audacity. Because of the phase canceling, none of the original tone can be heard. Only the noise added during dithering remains.

I made noise with my teeth hopefully it sounds like its a squish or squirt that was what i was going for. It was created on audacity with my blue yeti microphone. It was done at home i simply pushed my tongue against my teeth simple and got really close to the mic. Made using two synths. One is a noise generator that has been pitched down three octaves. It has a 12-hertz sine tremolo on either side, one of which is offset by half a wavelength. The other synth is a deep organ playing e3 and g3. I cut the sound in audacity, and the waves line up perfectly, so you don't need to worry about looping it badly.
